Once again through the allocation
of funding from the National Lotteries Board, SATTB is able
to continue with the national table tennis academy at the High
Performance Center in Tswane. The national academy was inaugurated
in May 2005. The number of athletes has now increased from six
in 2005 to eleven this year. On the 6 & 7 May 2006, the
International Coach Mr. Zhou and Mr. Clement Meyer (Vice President
Coaching and Development for SATTB) carried out an evaluation
training camp at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni whereby six
athletes were identified to join the National Academy. The new
athletes to join the academy are:
Lesego Seleke (SFS)
Khanyisile Madlala (EG)
Stephany Martins (BOL)
Itumeleng Molahloe (SFS)
Cody Meyer (WP)
Sabu Mazwi (WP)
Theo Cogill (Received an IOC Solidarity Scholarship)
The number of athletes and management in this programme comprises
of 5 female and 6 male athletes, the coach and manager. The
Academy program provides accommodation, meals, training, counseling,
a Life Skills program, medical intervention as well as secondary
and tertiary Education |
